Over the summer, Manchester United made three first-team additions to the squad – all of whom have made a positive impact thus far.
However, it’s easy to forget that money was spent on a fourth new addition; Hannibal Mejbri.
The 16-year-old Frenchman was acquired from AS Monaco in a £9million move, with Mejbri already wearing Reds colours at U23s level despite only being a kid.
Anyway last night, The Times state that there is ‘considerable excitement’ over the £9million man Mejbri – who’ll only get better over the next few years.
It isn’t every day United would be willing to spend such a huge fee on a player so young – which should tell you everything you need to know about Mejbri’s talent levels. This boy has massive potential, though we need to give him time.
If you’ve watched any U23s/U18s action this term, you’ll see how physically slight Mejbri is right now – which is obviously understandable. After all, he’s still so young.
Right now, it’s about focusing on developing his footballing attributes, his body will grow in time and who knows, perhaps we’ll see this young man on pre-season tour in a year or two. After all, he does play in a position of real need which could fast-track his progression should United need him.
