Manchester United could be about to make a colossal offer of £61million, to try and tempt AS Roma into parting with one of their key men; Radja Nainggolan. That’s according to Tuttomercatoweb, as per the Daily Star. However, that still may not be enough with the Serie A side valuing him at £70million.
It comes as no secret that Jose Mourinho is at least considering bringing in a new midfielder this season, with reports linking us to a deal for Chelsea’s Nemanja Matic.
Now, it looks as though the self-proclaimed Special One has turned his attentions elsewhere, and there is no doubt that Nainggolan would be a superb acquisition.
This is a man who is right at the peak of his powers at 29, and he’s a player who would set the Premier League alight. In terms of box-to-box midfielders, I genuinely don’t think there is a better option out there.
Nainggolan has an engine on him, and he’ll cover every blade of grass for the duration of the match. He’d also bring something to the table both offensively and defensively, and these two-way players are becoming more and more of a rarity in the modern day game.
Whatever it takes, I’d urge Edward Woodward to move quickly on this one, particularly with pre-season starting in just over a week.
