Manchester United Football Club are considering their other options at centre-back, as Leicester City continue to demand £65million to let Harry Maguire leave. The next name thrown into the ring? FC Barcelona’s Yerry Mina.
That’s according to the Daily Mail. The 23-year-old had a sensational World Cup with his native Colombia, but has failed to establish himself at the Camp Nou since his January arrival. Now United are looking at potentially making a move for the centre-half.
Mina, along with the aforementioned Maguire, were the two break-out stars during Russia 2018, and bringing either to United would be a massive upgrade in such a key area of the field.
Rumours linking Maguire with an Old Trafford switch have been plentiful over the last few days, but after Leicester have already decided to let Riyad Mahrez leave the King Power, I have my doubts that a second star will be on the move during this window. Hence why other avenues must be explored.
Both are similar players, although Maguire has the slight edge due to his Premier League experience. With less than a fortnight left until the transfer window slams shut, United will have to act quickly to push any deal over the line. One thing is for certain; a new centre-half is a must.
