Manchester United have cooled their interest in Napoli midfielder, Jorginho.
That’s according to the Manchester Evening News, per the Daily Express. They say that Jose Mourinho pulling the plug on any move for the Italian paves the way for either Manchester City or Liverpool to strike.
At 26, Jorginho would have provided the perfect blend of youth and experience. However, it seems as though the self-proclaimed Special One has other plans.
Midfield really has to be the priority over the summer. Michael Carrick is retiring so immediately there is one hole that needs to be filled. We also have Marouane Fellaini, who’s still to commit to a new Old Trafford deal.
The Napoli man has blossomed into an excellent central player, and this season has certainly been the making of him. He’s quick, agile, tough in the tackle and excellent in possession. While it will be a bitter blow to see him move to a rival, I wonder what Mourinho has in mind.
Perhaps he’s closing in on a deal for another target, maybe he’s persuaded the aforementioned Fellaini to stick around. I’m sure we’ll all find out fairly soon.
