Manchester United could announce their first summer signing this weekend: report

Manchester United Football Club will always be linked with a move to bring in the biggest players, that’s just the natural order of things when you are one of the largest sides on the planet. That trend has once again continued over the last 24 hours or so…

However, Colombian radio station Colombian radio station Caracol (translated by the MEN) have gone one further, they claim that Manchester United could announce James Rodriguez as their first signing of the 2017-18 window as early as this weekend; after Madrid play their last league game.

The 25-year-old has a contract in the Spanish capital until 2020, but a lack of playing time for the Colombian has meant the frustration has been growing, now it looks as though Manchester United are ready to pounce.

In my opinion, this would be a truly brilliant piece of business if this news is true, and the sooner it’s announced the better. We know how quickly Jose Mourinho likes to act in the transfer market, so it would certainly fit in with his mantra if this deal was pushed through in the not too distant future.

We’ve desperately lacked that creativity in the middle of the park, and I believe we’ve been craving that world class number ten who can grab a game by the scruff of it’s neck and deliver chances to his teammates. Rodriguez is perfect for that, so I’d love to see this deal done.
