Manchester United could be about to make first huge sale under Mourinho

Manchester United have already added plenty of firepower to the current squad, by bringing in Eric Bailly and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, with a move for Henrikh Mkhitaryan also looking likely. However, on top of that, they’ll sadly be outgoing players too.

The first one is a huge one, although it always felt extremely likely since Jose Mourinho was announced as Manchester United manager.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Juan Mata has been deemed surplus to requirements at Old Trafford, and now Everton are trying to convince the Spaniard to make the move to Goodison Park.

Mata, now 28, didn’t get on with Mourinho during their time together at Chelsea, and it doesn’t look like he’ll even get the chance to prove his worth at Old Trafford under the self-proclaimed Special One.

However, Everton is a huge step down for him which would be a real shame. Personally, I’d like to see him shifted abroad so there is less chance that his abilities could come back to haunt us.
