Manchester United could be about to break their transfer spending record before the European Championships get underway in a few weeks time. The news comes directly from the source, too, with Romelu Lukaku’s father saying he expects his son to leave Everton this summer.
The fee Everton are after is thought to be around £65million, which seems mightily expensive.
“At the moment I think Manchester United or Bayern Munich are the most suitable for him, especially Bayern,” Lukaku senior is quoted as saying.
“Romelu will help determine the choice, but the agent usually has the last word,” He went on to say.
“I hope, and think, Mino is fair, and that he is acting in the interest of the player. Now, with Romelu, it will be quickly arranged. I think it will be in order before the European Championship.”
Romelu Lukaku has Premier League experience, and lots of it too. At just 23 he already has over 60 goals in England which is a superb record. The Belgian has really set Goodison Park alight over the last couple of seasons, and if Manchester United could sign him it’d be great going forward.
His style of play is perfect for United, and even more-so if Jose Mourinho is coming to Old Trafford. He is built physically so doesn’t mind a scrap, has two great feet and excellent finishing ability – as well as being a real threat in the air.
The only issue could be that £65million fee. It seems extremely steep and I’m sure that Edward Woodward will be looking to get that reduced if possible.
