The former Barcelona manager, and current Bayern Munich manager could yet be subject to a late move from Manchester United as his Bayern career was thrown up in the air in a press conference today. The manager publicly asked the board whether they think he’s still the right man for the job.
With a deal for Louis van Gaal looking like its almost complete, could Manchester United be tempted by the prospect of Pep’s tika-taka style of play at Old Trafford?
In my opinion, United, like Bayern Munich don’t have the players that suit Pep’s style. As Gary Neville said a few weeks ago, United have always been about pace and power, using the space out wide to penetrate into the box.
“I can’t train the players with other coaches’ ideas,” he said.
“Even after the defeat against Madrid, I’m confident in my own idea.
“I have to adapt myself to the players’ qualities. Next year we’ll play with my ideas. The board and club must decide if I’m still right as coach.”
These are strong words from the current Bayern Munich manager, and after suffering a huge aggregate defeat to Real Madrid last week, the board will certainly be questioning themselves as to whether Guardiola is the right man for the job.
Last year under Jupp Heynckes, the Bavarian side won it all. However Pep’s Tika-taka style hasn’t worked effectively on the biggest stage just yet.
