Well, our international injury curse strikes again. Manchester United confirmed last week that Phil Jones had been injured in England training and would return to the club, now a second player is on his way back to the Aon Training Complex.
This time, it’s the turn of his defensive teammate Chris Smalling, who has followed suit and returned to Manchester United following an injury.

Whilst the extent of Smalling’s injury is yet to be known, it does raise cause for concern. We’re now two men light in an extremely key area of the field, which is made even worse by the sheer amount of games we have coming up.
Now, we’re down to the bare bones with Eric Bailly and Marcos Rojo are only fit and recognised centre-backs. Rojo himself is currently out in Argentina playing for his country, so I don’t expect him to come back in the best of shape, either.
Jose Mourinho always tends to have this way to pull things out of the bag when it comes to injuries, and we’re going to need another managerial masterclass from our gaffer.
