Manchester United dealt big blow as versatile star ruled out for the season

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Marcos Rojo and Luke Shaw are all out for the season with different injury issues. Now, another man has joined that list according to the Manchester Evening News. They claim that Ashley Young is now done for the remainder of the campaign with a hamstring injury.

The 31-year-old was a second-half substitute against Celta Vigo last Thursday, but after 11 minutes on the field, he had to be hauled off as he went down with the aforementioned problem.

Now, he won’t take to the field again this season which is a huge shame, particularly for Jose Mourinho as the manager absolutely loves the versatility that the former Aston Villa man brings to the table.

There has been plenty of occasions recently when the self-proclaimed Special One had turned to Young to do a job. More often than not the winger produces the goods, and he’s definitely turned into one of the more senior figures in the dressing room.

He will definitely be missed. We now look pretty thin on the ground in terms of players who can fill in that left-back slot, particularly with Luke Shaw missing too. Matteo Darmian will likely be the first choice option out there for the remainder of the season, with Daley Blind his back-up. If both of those guys get injured, we really could be in heaps of trouble.
