Manchester United are clearly intent on bringing in new faces in the summer, to help the side mount some sort of title challenge in the second half of the season. The latest name being mentioned is Sadio Mane of Southampton, but that deal looks dead in the water according to reports.
The Times say that Ronald Koeman (Southampton manager) has ruled out the sale of Sadio Mane in January, and told the Senegal international to get his head down and focus on his football.
Its notoriously tough to buy players in the middle of the season, and understandably so. Clubs don’t like losing their stars as its often hard to replace them in January, which usually results in all approaches being knocked back.
However football is a game ruled by money, and if Edward Woodward and co. come up with the right amount in terms of a transfer fee, it could well persuade the South Coast side into parting with one of their prized assets.
