Manchester United football club have accepted it will be difficult to lure Toni Kroos away from Bayern Munich in the summer, as the 24-year old midfielder looks set to secure a new contract in Bavaria. The Guardian suggest United haven’t completely given up just yet, but the chances of signing Kroos are ‘remote’.
Toni Kroos was thought to have been one of David Moyes’ main targets for the summer, but to me this one always looked like a non-starter. Why would the player want to leave the current champions of Europe? Also why would the club want to sell one of the best midfielders in the world?
It always looked like Toni Kroos was using United to get more money out of his current side, and although no deal has been signed as of yet, I suspect it’ll happen within the coming weeks.
Kroos was impressive in both Champions League ties against United, and his passing is simply sublime. Long or shot, the 24-year old playmaker will pick out his man in Scholes-esque fashion. It would’ve been a real coup if United could have pulled this one off, but as I mentioned earlier it never looked like happening.
With Ilkay Gundogan having real trouble with his back which could see him forced to retire from football, and Toni Kroos not going anywhere anytime soon. William Carvalho becomes our number one transfer target in the centre of midfield.
