Manchester United dealt major blow as defender ruled out for two months

Manchester United slumped to another disappointing result this weekend, as Louis van Gaal’s men got beat 2-1 away at Sunderland. The Dutchman was obviously bitterly disappointed, but it got even worse for him, as Matteo Darmian has been ruled out for seven weeks.

The Italian right-back has a dislocated shoulder, and will now be out of action until the beginning of April at the very earliest. This is a massive blow as Darmian is quite important to the way that we play, and we don’t have all that many options in that area of the field at the moment.

Injuries do provide other squad members with an opportunity to prove their worth however, and its now up to the likes of Guillermo Varela to take his chance.

Hopefully the team won’t miss Darmian too much, and when it comes to the business end of the season he’ll be back to full fitness and ready to help out.
