Manchester United defender close to finalising move away from Old Trafford: report

It looks as though Matteo Darmian’s days at Manchester United are numbered, with Juventus close to finalising a move for the Italy international.

That’s according to Tuttosport, translated by Tribal Football, who add that agreements already exist on both sides of the table, with Darmian eager to leave Old Trafford.

Apparently, talks have been taking place since the turn of the year and it’s a move that certainly makes perfect sense for all involved. Jose Mourinho has used the full-back sparingly and no doubt the Red Devils will be looking to recoup as much of the £12million that they paid for him when Louis van Gaal was in charge.

After an excellent start, things went rapidly downhill for Darmian which was a real shame. He showed promise aplenty over the first few months, but after Alexis Sanchez absolutely decimated him at The Emirates, he never looked like the same player. Then Mourinho took charge and since then he’s barely played.

This deal makes me excited because United will no doubt be replacing him. Our full-back area needs huge amounts of investment, particularly with Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young getting older, but I’ve no idea who’d be available to buy this summer.
