Manchester United’s Matteo Darmian is keen on a move to Juventus this summer, after being frozen out at Old Trafford, The Metro report.
The Turin club are apparently weighing up a move for the right-back who has barely played with any regularity this term.
For a few months under Louis van Gaal, Darmian certainly looked like the answer to United’s right-back issues, but his form eroded pretty quickly, then we saw the real Darmian; and it wasn’t good…
Jose Mourinho has certainly used him rather sparingly, in fact, he’s seen far more minutes on the left-hand side of defence, but even then Darmian has been largely uninspiring.
Personally, I feel a move away from United makes perfect sense. The fact that Italy’s top team are interested in signing him tells you that he is an excellent player within the right system, and if the Red Devils can recoup the £12million that they paid to sign him, then they’ve done extremely well.
Then, though, it’d mean signing another versatile defender as his replacement. Either that, or hand Luke Shaw more minutes, but it’s fair to say that doesn’t look like happening…
