Manchester United defender picks up injury, may miss pre-season tour

Manchester United Football Club’s pre-season tour of the United States is now well underway. Jose Mourinho’s men have played two games thus far, although the results haven’t been quite what the doctor ordered.

Next up, a game against AC Milan in Santa Clara, with the Red Devils looking to bounce back and get on the right track.

However, before that match, United have been dealt an injury blow, with Marcos Rojo still in Manchester as he’s suffering an injury. It’s still unsure as to whether the Argentine will meet up with the rest of the squad; it has come at such a crucial time, too…

“I don’t know. He [Marcos] is with the medical department. [I have been] in contact since the World Cup, where he had some physical problem and the medical department has to make a decision if he joins us here or if he goes to Manchester to recover and wait for the team to be back.” Mourinho told reporters, including ManUtd.com.

After suffering ligament damage in April 2017, Rojo has struggled to get himself back to full fitness. Obviously, serious injuries like that take time to overcome. I just hope that now this isn’t the sign of the times for the remainder of his career.

Don’t forget that during Mourinho’s debut season, it was the former Sporting Lisbon man at the heart of our defence alongside Eric Bailly. Going into the campaign without a full pre-season is immensely tough, and I suspect it could be a few months before we see him back to full fitness; which further highlights the need for a new centre-half.
