Manchester United defender primed for exit as Jose sets sights on 5 ft 11 German

Manchester United’s defensive injury crisis has been extremely well documented recently. With Jose Mourinho left without Eric Bailly and Antonio Valencia for the long-term. On top of that, both Chris Smalling and Luke Shaw were out injured for the trip to Swansea at the weekend.

That has meant an increased amount of minutes for Matteo Darmian, who thought he was on the cusp of leaving Old Trafford. That may still be the case, however, because reports in Germany say United are keeping tabs on Benjamin Henrichs.

The 19-year-old is currently on Bayer Leverkusen’s books, and is making a real wave in the footballing community at the moment. So-much-so that both United and FC Barcelona are battling it out to sign the German.

There is always a risk with youngsters, particularly when they transfer to a new club in a different country and climate. Personally, I’d much prefer Mourinho to opt for someone tried and tested in that area of the pitch, but you have to trust his judgement.
