Manchester United defensive trio expected to return from injury in February

Manchester United’s defensive injuries have been well documented of late, and with the transfer window closing it doesn’t look like any new signings are likely. However the club could receive a few major boosts throughout the month if reports are to be believed.

The Manchester Evening News say that Antonio Valencia, Marcos Rojo and Matteo Darmian are all expected to return throughout February, giving Louis van Gaal some more options in the defensive full-back areas.

Antonio Valencia hasn’t been available for a while due to an ongoing leg problem in which he had to undergo surgery. Before that though, he was a clear favourite of our manager who liked his pace from the right-back slot.

Marcos Rojo suffered a recurrence of a shoulder issue that was troubling him massively last season, and he also had to go under the knife to solve that issue. He offers an outlet at left-back as well as centre-half, which could come in handy.

Finally Matteo Darmian took a heavy blow to the ribs against Liverpool and left the field spitting up blood. However that problem isn’t thought to be as bad as first feared, and he should be back sooner rather than later.
