Ah, we do love the FA Cup. Manchester United lifted the oldest trophy in the game last season, thanks to an absolute stunner from local lad Jesse Lingard in the final. The Red Devils also kicked off their 2016/17 campaign in style, beating Reading 4-0 at Old Trafford.
The draw for the fourth round of the tournament has been made, and Manchester United have been handed a favourable, yet sentimental draw.
Wigan Athletic will visit the Theatre of Dreams, with their new manager and former Red youth coach Warren Joyce at the helm. Joyce masterminded so much glory for the youngsters at Carrington, including the likes of Marcus Rashford and the aforementioned Jesse Lingard who are now regulars in the United team. He’ll also be bringing a couple of former reds with him too, in the form of Reece James and Nick Powell.
Personally, I’m very pleased with the draw and we should secure safe passage through to the fifth round of the competition which is always positive. Jose Mourinho will also get the option to rest a few of his bigger names again, which is ideal, particularly due to our Europa League commitments.
