Manchester United’s Carabao Cup campaign is just on the horizon. Jose Mourinho’s men enter at the third-round stage, as they hope to wrestle the trophy away from Manchester City.
The draw has been made, with the Red Devils playing at home to Championship side, Derby County. The game itself is certainly going to be an intriguing encounter, as Mr. Mourinho and Frank Lampard will lock horns as managers for the first time. What an opportunity it is for the former player to get one over on his old mate…
I don’t know what it is, but we always seem to draw Derby County. It was just earlier on this year when we went head-to-head with The Rams, but in the FA Cup. They’re a side who have started well under Lampard’s tutelage. The game itself could well be a close encounter; particularly if Mourinho tends to rest his main men which I assume he will due to our participation in the Champions League.
Hopefully, we can make home advantage count and ensure safe progression into the fourth round. I always enjoy winning the Carabao/League Cup. The momentum it can bring can kick-start a late title-tilt. Here’s to hoping that something similar materialises for us.
The tie will be played week commencing 24th September.
