Manchester United duo look all set for exit

Manchester United look set for a major overhaul over the next four days, with Louis van Gaal looking to offload as much deadwood as possible before the 11pm Monday deadline. Two potential outgoings come in the form of midfield duo Tom Cleverley and Shinji Kagawa, who are both possibly on their way out in the not too distant future.

Tom Cleverley came through the ranks at Manchester United, and the 24-year old has been at the club for fourteen years. He burst on the scene with a sublime second-half performance against Manchester City in the Community Shield back in 2011, but sadly he hasn’t really kicked on since then.

Injuries haven’t helped his case, and he doesn’t seem the most confident player on the park either. Unfortunately, he just doesn’t have the skill set to be a top level midfielder at a club like Manchester United. He struggles with his passing, vision and running with the ball – all the key attributes that are needed.

Valencia and Aston Villa have both made bids for Tom Cleverley, but he holds all the cards as his contract expires next season. He has to make the decision, does he sacrifice another year of his career sitting on United’s bench in the hope for more offers next year? Or does he leave now and revive his career sooner rather than later.

Shinji Kagawa is totally the opposite. The Japan international is an exquisite little playmaker who has it all in an attacking sense. It just hasn’t worked out for him at Manchester United. Often deployed on the left-wing, Kagawa found himself out of position and frustrated.

Yes, he has shown glimpses of what he can do in the #10 role, but it happened sporadically, and he simply had to be more consistent if he wanted regular starts in his favoured position.

A return to Borussia Dortmund is looking likely, and according to Sky Sports News he is undergoing a medical in Germany today. The fee being touted is around the £12million mark, which is what we paid to acquire his services from Dortmund two summers ago.

Do you think its a fair fee for the pair? Leave your thoughts on their possible sales in the comment box below.
