England manager Roy Hodgson has confirmed that the Manchester United duo of Wayne Rooney and Michael Carrick will miss the game against Estonia tomorrow night, after the pair have both suffered injuries during training throughout the week.
It is thought that Michael Carrick suffered a slight groin injury and Wayne Rooney’s injury is thought to be slightly more serious, but hopefully he’ll be ready to go when Manchester United take on his former side Everton in just over one weeks time.
Wayne Rooney’s form has been woeful of late, and perhaps this injury will inspire him somehow to force his way back into the side rather than walking into the line-up. He certainly needs that competition to push him to the next level, because at the moment he’s a guaranteed starter no matter what kind of form he is in.
