Manchester United enter race to sign Brazil midfielder, PSG, Barcelona also keen: report

Manchester United Football Club have entered the race to try and sign Lucas Paqueta from Flamengo.

That’s according to Le10Sport, per 90min.com. The 21-year-old is attracting huge interest from European sides including Paris Saint-Germain and FC Barcelona. Now the Red Devils have seemingly entered the chase.

Paqueta has tacked on six assists for his teammates, while scoring two goals himself in the league this season, as his personal reputation continues to grow.

Look, there is no disputing the fact that United still need help if they’re to challenge for multiple trophies. This squad is still probably one or two players light.

However, I’d much prefer to see experienced campaigners coming into the fold rather than taking a gamble on another youngster.

I also have this problem with South Americans at United. More often than not, it hasn’t worked out. I look at Angel di Maria, Juan Sebastian Veron and many more. Fred has hardly set the world alight in his first few appearances, either.

With Paqeuta being priced at around £35million, I’d much prefer to see that money spent on a centre-back, or even a more experienced central midfield player. There are still so many holes in this squad that need filling before taking a punt on a 21-year-old.
