Manchester United eye £30m swoop for Dutch duo

It looks as though Luke Shaw will be Manchester United’s first summer signing, and now Dutch boss Louis van Gaal looks to bring in a couple of players from closer to home. According to The Express, both Jordy Clasie and Bruno Martins Indi are believed to targets for Van Gaal for a combined £30million fee.

Bruno Martins Indi, 22, is a centre-back born in Portugal. He chose Holland as his national team-of-choice back in 2009 when he played his first games for the U17 national team, and currently plays his club football for Feyenoord. He’s left-footed, and can also provide cover at left-back if needed. Indi has thirteen caps for Holland, scoring two goals.

Jordy Clasie also plays for Feyenoord and is 22 years of age. Referred to as the ‘Dutch Xavi’ by the fans in Holland, Clasie is a 5’7 playmaker who has already racked up close to a 100 league appearances for his club. He has also played seven games for his country and is on his way to Rio to work with Van Gaal for Holland.

Both players are positions United certainly need to strengthen in, and Louis van Gaal certainly knows both of them well enough from their time with the Holland squad. At just 22 they have huge futures ahead of them, and are filled with great potential. My only concern would be that they’re both young and unproven at the highest level domestically, but I’m willing to put faith in Louis van Gaal who has an excellent history when it comes to promoting youth.
