Manchester United could be set for a huge transfer battle with Chelsea this summer, according to the Daily Star. They say that both Premier League clubs are interested in bringing in Inter Milan’s goalkeeper, Samir Handanovic.
The 31-year old Slovenian is believed to be frustrated with life in the Serie A, and is seeking a move away this summer. Despite recently agreeing to a new contract at the San Siro, he has now decided to try and force the clubs hand into selling him as they continue to struggle to challenge Juventus for the Italian league title.
United could well be looking at Samir Handanovic as a long-term replacement for David de Gea. Who, despite signing a new contract, could well be thinking about a move away from Old Trafford if the club don’t win the FA Cup this summer.
They could do a whole lot worse than the experienced Handanovic. He’s a superb keeper with great feet, and his huge frame will make him a real presence in the air, and give him the ability to deal with the physicality of the Premier League.
