It certainly looks as though Manchester United could be in the market for a new left-back this summer, and the latest name to be linked with an Old Trafford move is Celtic’s Kieran Tierney.
That’s according to ESPN, per the Daily Star, who adds that the Red Devils are ‘confident’ of landing the 20-year-old teenage sensation.
Personally, I love Luke Shaw and when he was signed by Louis van Gaal, I assumed he’d be our left-back for the next decade. For whatever reason, it just hasn’t worked out. The young man has been plagued with injuries and you get the impression that manager Jose Mourinho is losing patience.
Celtic’s Tierney is an immense talent, he’s a player who’s learning all the time. I love his attitude, his effort on both sides of the ball and the passion he plays with.
That said, I’d much prefer United to sign a more experienced defender, perhaps an Alex Sandro or Danny Rose. These guys have played at the highest level, both would be able to come in and do a job straight away, whereas it may take Tierney some time to develop and grow into the role.
