Manchester United and Jose Mourinho are planning a massive overhaul of the current squad, as the Portuguese manager tries to shape the squad in his image before the big kick-off in August. Despite his time at Chelsea ending in poor fashion, that won’t stop Mourinho moving in for their players.
Earlier in the month, United were linked with a move to bring in Nemanja Matic, and today, another rumour for a Chelsea player has popped up in the papers.
That’s according to Spanish media outlet AS (via Goal), who say that Manchester United are eyeing a move for Spanish international, Cesar Azpilicueta.
The 26-year-old could be available for as little as £13.5million (€17m), as Conte clearly isn’t a huge fan of the versatile defender.
However, United would face stiff competition to land Azpilicueta, with both Paris Saint-Germain and Athletic Bilbao expected to be in for his signature as well.
It would be an astute piece of business if United could land him, but it will always be tough as Chelsea won’t really want to sell to another Premier League club.
