Manchester United eyeing move for superstar midfield maestro: report

Manchester United have entered the race to sign SS Lazio star midfielder, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. That’s according to Italian media outlet Corriere dello Sport, translated by Sky Sports News.

The midfielder is being targeted by European giants Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid, but now Jose Mourinho has joined in the chase as he clearly looks to bolster his midfield.

With Michael Carrick retiring and Marouane Fellaini yet to commit to a new deal, it makes perfect sense for the Red Devils to invest heavily in the middle of the park.

At 23, Milinkovic-Savic is the perfect modern-day midfielder. He’s quick, aggressive, an excellent passer and a tough-tackler. His mobility would be huge, largely due to the fact that it’d free up Paul Pogba in a more offensive role.

Obviously, signing the young Serb is easier said than done, particularly with both Madrid and PSG showing an interest. However, Manchester United can certainly compete with the best when it comes to finances, so I wouldn’t bet against this move happening.

Hopefully, we’ll hear his name crop up in the tabloids plenty more times before the season ends, and getting a deal completed before the World Cup would be ideal.
