Well, they left it late, but Manchester United managed to grab all three points against Hull City. Jose Mourinho’s men were piling on the pressure as the game drew to a close, and Marcus Rashford stepped up and scored the sole goal in the game at the KCOM Stadium.
The game as a whole was a frustrating one. Hull City sat back and soaked up everything United had to offer, but one man who struggled to have any real impact on the game throughout was Wayne Rooney.
Yes, our club captain did play a huge part in the breakthrough goal, but it really is a mystery as to how he was still on the field at that point. He gave the ball away more often than not, looked slow, and honestly stopped more of our counter attacks than the Hull defence.
As you can imagine, the United fans were less than friendly towards the 30-year-old forward on social media.
Check out some of the fans’ reactions here:
To be fair, that was fantastic by Rooney on the byline.

The Rooney love is still surprisingly strong. Sorry but I don't know how anyone could have watched that game and thought he played well

The Rooney debate is tough, not firing on all cylinders but always capable of delivering the goods.

Rooney can't even dribble the ball to the corner flag.

Rooney's positioning as a number 10 is utterly horrific. Never between the lines, his 'support' for Zlatan is non existent.

Wayne Rooney is toilet. Such an awful footballer now.
