Cristiano Ronaldo is still idolised amongst the Old Trafford terraces. The crowd still sung his name on a weekly basis.
The Red Devils were delighted at the prospect of the now Juventus man coming ‘home’ when the sides meet in the Champions League. However, that is no longer going to be the case.
Ronaldo was sent off for an apparent hair-pull in their game against Valencia CF, with the Manchester Evening News claiming the 33-year-old is set to miss at least the next two games.
That certainly rules him out of the game in Manchester, while there is also the possibility that Ronaldo will miss the return game in Turin.
Obviously, it’s extremely gutting to read that Ronaldo will not get that welcome he so richly deserves, but hopefully, he isn’t suspended for three games and we do get to see him during game-week four.
From a football standpoint, it gives United a better opportunity at securing the positive result that they so desperately crave. Juventus will still be immensely difficult to beat. They still managed to beat Valencia 2-0 away from home even playing most of the game with ten men…
It’s a double-edged sword. In some capacity, it’s a real shame, in others, a huge plus. Anyway, at least United kicked things off in the right manner with the all-important victory against Young Boys. We keep rolling on…
