Manchester United would have wanted more, but in the end, the Red Devils had to settle for a point against Liverpool.
Jose Mourinho’s men dropped points for just the second time this season, dropping off the top of the table in the process.
As we all know, Anfield is never an easy place to go and play, but perhaps I’m being naive. I thought Liverpool were to be got at. They’ve looked frail at the back and it felt like the perfect opportunity to go there and send out a real message to the rest of the Premier League.
Instead, United found themselves on the back-foot for the most part. Jurgen Klopp’s team had plenty of possession, but lacked any real cutting edge; until the first-half was winding down a close.
It looked for all the world that Liverpool were about to take the lead, but David de Gea kept them at bay with a truly world-class stop.
Time and time again this man wins us points single-handedly and he’s done it again today. Without him, I dread to think where we’d be over the last few years. As you’d imagine, the United fans were buzzing on social media.

de Gea is not only the best goalkeeper, but the best overall player in the league. World class. Every week.https://t.co/gXvCvPbI2l

Bit of a tactical risk by Jose only starting de Gea against the entire Liverpool team today but he's done very well.

Only that Matip chance had me worried. De Gea best in the world to the rescue. Everything else was a bit comfortable.

Wasn't the performance we wanted but delighted with a point we're still unbeaten & got the best GK in the world in De Gea #mufc
