The Premier League season is drawing ever closer. Jose Mourinho is beginning to put in the final touches of our pre-season campaign, as the players’ preparations for the important games is coming to its climax. Today, the Red Devils headed to Norway to take on Valerenga.
One of the starters in that game was Henrikh Mkhitaryan. The Armenia international was tasked with being the main creator of opportunities for Marcus Rashford in front of him, and on the whole he had a solid game in my opinion.
He got into the right positions, sometimes his trickery paid off, and others, it didn’t. That’s just the nature of playing as an attacking player. You have to try the unexpected, and at times, it just isn’t going to work out.
Twitter seemed to be mixed on the display, with someone even labelling the former Borussia Dortmund man as ‘Veron 2.0’ which is very harsh in my humble opinion.
At the end of the day though, these pre-season games are more about building up match fitness than anything else. As long as he’s fit and firing when we start our Premier League season in a fortnight, all will be forgiven.
Check out the tweets aimed at Henrikh Mkhitaryan below:
Mkhitaryan is starting to remind me of Nani & not in a good way.
Comes up with moments of magic but irritating most of the times.— rahul? (@rpk_mufc) July 30, 2017

Still waiting for Mkhitaryan to really step up.
Hope he improves on last season, otherwise we've got another Depay on our hands. #Mufc— Dan-O (@Nightwink99) July 30, 2017

Mkhitaryan is the only winger who has a good cross/final ball. Mata at CAM, Mkhi RW, Perisic LW and Lukaku will score 20+ goals!

That cross from Mkhitaryan was class!
