Manchester United Football Club finally got back to winning ways, with an excellent victory away at Goodison Park.
Jose Mourinho’s men were average in the first-half, but after the break, the Red Devils vastly improved to scoop all three points in somewhat convincing manner.
Although Paul Pogba didn’t score, he was absolutely outstanding throughout. The 24-year-old played the right ball more often than not, made some marauding runs and just took control of the game.
This is why you pay colossal amounts to bring in the best players. Pogba is one of, if not the best midfielder on the planet, and now we’re beginning to see exactly how capable he is when he’s up for it.
Perhaps it was the switch to a three-man midfield which freed him up, and it makes perfect sense to continue with that system because you want your top performers to flourish. This could be the start of a change in tactics for Mourinho, but for now, let’s just enjoy an absolute masterclass from Pogba.

That was the Pogba of Juventus tonight. Left of a three man midfield he can cause havoc. Few better in world football when in full flow. #mufc #Pogba

Pogba has registered an assist on average every 149 minutes in the Premier League this season, the best record of any player to have managed more than 1 assist this season. #MUFC pic.twitter.com/6HWc2glaG8

So can be all agree that Pogba on the left of a three-man midfield and being given free rein to do as he damn well pleases is his best position?

Loads better. Don’t really know why it took so long but reverting to three CMs to free Pogba up definitely did the trick. Hopefully a blueprint for the rest of the season (and if it is, another CM *really* wouldn’t go amiss in this window).
