Manchester United went to Anfield for a point, and that’s exactly what Jose Mourinho’s men left with. The game itself was a drab 0-0, with Liverpool dominating the ball and United happy to sit in and absorb the pressure, which they did excellently.
The man who stood out from the pack was Ander Herrera. The Spaniard dominated the game from minute one, giving Jordan Henderson and Emre Can nothing as he absolutely bossed them.
His energy was brilliant, he won plenty of tackles and got United moving in the right direction, and you have to look back and wonder at how he hasn’t been a regular in the starting line-up.
Herrera was first to every loose ball, willing his teammates on and was just a real joy to watch throughout the ninety minutes. Going forward, this man has to be involved from the start because he really did do himself proud this evening.
