Manchester United managed to stick four past West Ham this evening, as Jose Mourinho’s men ensured safe progression through to the semi-final of the EFL Cup. The game as a whole was a convincing one for the Red Devils, and confidence must surely be flowing.
A large part of such a dominant scoreline was the brilliance of Man of the Match Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who ended the game with two assists. The Armenian’s movement is an absolute joy to behold, and he always seems to pick the right pass and find himself some space immediately.
It does beg the question as to why he has barely featured until this point because he clearly has it in his locker to succeed at the very highest level on a consistent basis.
The Manchester United fans are clearly on a high this evening, and took to social media to express their absolute delight at the 27-year-old playmaker.

Just the sort of result our performances recently have deserved. Delighted for Mkhitaryan and Martial. Top night for them.

Two things: Mkhitaryan must always start and Rashford should never play on the wing again.

Last tweet. Mkhitaryan been too good for him not to start versus EFC. Same with Martial. Lingard/ Rashford have been a joke for months now.

Going forward, this is a man who has to play week-in-week-out when he’s fit. Mkhitaryan seems to make us tick, and when he’s fully fit and firing, he could well be the final piece in that brilliant front line we have.
