Manchester United have confirmed a move to sign right-back Diogo Dalot.
The 19-year-old becomes the second player to move to Old Trafford this summer, following a deal to bring in Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred.
Full-back is an area that has been a real issue for Jose Mourinho since his arrival. For whatever reason, he doesn’t trust Luke Shaw, whereas Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia aren’t getting any younger.
Sure, it’s highly unlikely that Dalot will become a first-team regular over the next twelve months, particularly as he’s only played six top-flight games in his career, but he is an immensely talented young man.
Dalot is quick, tall, physical and positionally aware. His versatility is a huge bonus and the fact that he can play in both full-back slots gives his chances at playing time a nice little lift.
What’ll be interesting is whether he’s already ahead of the aforementioned Shaw in the pecking order, but I guess we won’t find that out until a month or two into the Premier League season.
It seems as though United fans all over the web are absolutely buzzing at the acquisition of the right-back.

Diogo Dalot is obviously a talented young man. It may take him a season or two before we see him play regularly, but I'm excited to see him in action. Hopefully, he'll get his chance on pre-season tour. #mufc pic.twitter.com/o87YaRrqHX

Jose Mourinho continues his trademark approach of buying only ready made players by signing 19 year old Diogo Dalot who joins 24 year old Fred as United's 2nd summer signing. He really has United looking like a retirement home. The man is destroying the club.?

Diogo Dalot is a trian of a fullback. Dominant in almost every game across all age groups for Porto + Portugal recently. Stylistically different, but his impact was very similar to Alexander-Arnold's final year as an U19. Owns the whole right flank by himself.
