Making the switch to Premier League football is never easy. No doubt new boy Fred has a big task on his hands at Manchester United.
However, our new Brazilian made the perfect start with an excellent display against Real Madrid; in what was his first start as a Red Devil.
Nobody really knew what to expect from the 25-year-old who was signed from Shakhtar Donetsk, particularly after spending the majority of the summer carrying an injury.
We were all pleasantly surprised though, and it was a display of real quality from the £52million man. He was great on the ball, calm and assured in possession and willing to take those calculated risks that are sometimes required.
His ability to drive at the heart of the opponents back four is something that United have lacked, but Fred doesn’t need telling twice to get himself involved. Despite being small in stature, his physical traits also impressed me, as he didn’t seem all too fussed about getting involved in a one-on-one battle against bigger, taller opponents.
From here, the only way is up for Fred, but the Old Trafford faithful, along with several other reds, were pleased with his first outing.

On Fred: Obviously talented, loves the ball at his feet, quick, two-footed and willing to drive forward. Good start for him, will only get better. #mufc

Good start to Fred's United career. Tough to make any real judgement until our midfield takes shape, with Pogba and Matic to return. Hard not to be happy with that display. ??

Combination play between Fred, Alexis Sánchez and Juan Mata is looking tasty. Sánchez, especially, looks fit and firing ready for the new season.

Nice debut for Fred! Looks like much needed energy and pace to our midfield! And most importantly Forward thinking in his passing! ??

Quite enjoying seeing Andreas and Fred in midfield. Two Brazilians playing with great chemistry. Love their quick thinking to play forward early and they aren’t afraid to throw their body in the way of things either.

Fred making an impact on United's play. That transition through the centre to Alexis/Mata much quicker than against Liverpool. Even Matteo bloody Darmian is playing well.
