The Luke Shaw situation has definitely been interesting. The young left-back hasn’t been in Jose Mourinho’s good books this season, but it seems as though he is forcing his way back into proceedings. Tonight, he was handed a massive chance to impress in the Europa League.
In my opinion, it was an opportunity the Englishman grasped with both hands as he put in a brilliant shift. The most impressive part of his game was in the final third as he wasn’t scared to get into the box and make a nuisance of himself. He could even have had a goal after his cross-cum-shot flew right across the face of the box.
One other thing worth mentioning is the fact that Shaw has rarely featured recently but tonight he came through 120 minutes. On top of that, he looked tireless throughout and it really was an excellent performance from the young man.
This is just the start for his road to earning his place back in the Manchester United starting line-up and now he has to kick on from here. Hopefully, Jose Mourinho gives him the opportunity to do exactly that, although I’m not sure we’ll see him at the weekend as he more than deserves the rest.
We’ve compiled some of the best tweets from Manchester United fans, who obviously felt happy with the way the 21-year-old performed.

Shaw, when fully fit and confident, will be top class.
Shown in glimpses what he's capable of. Tough love ain't all bad.
