Manchester United secured their place as Premier League runners-up following a draw away at West Ham United.
Jose Mourinho made changes aplenty for the game, including handing a rare start to Luke Shaw.
The young Englishman played at left-back as United deployed a five-man back line, and in the first half I’d argue that he was our best player. Shaw was making the right runs, his positional sense was excellent and he even got off a couple of decent efforts on goal.
However, things changed dramatically in the second 45. His passing became sloppy and his fitness levels were certainly tested. It really was a mixed bag from the 22-year-old, and he probably didn’t help himself if he were trying to impress the manager.
I’ve always felt that Shaw has been unfairly treated this season. Ashley Young has been solid at left-back but he’s certainly not the long-term solution. Why not give the ex-Southampton man a real crack at the whip?
Obviously, that’s not happened but it was nice to see him in the team against West Ham. However, me, along with many other Red Devils fans, weren’t too impressed with his display on the whole, despite a solid first 45 minutes. He did have some backers though, particularly for diving in and backing Paul Pogba following an incident with Mark Noble.
I’ve seen bad footballers, then I’ve seen Luke Shaw

Luke Shaw is just terrible

On the positive side Luke Shaw was good tonight, and de Gea finally wins his golden glove

Luke Shaw needs to be given game time! He is decent! Mourinho is going to kill united for future seasons by selling young talent for the now!

Luke Shaw again didn't reach Ashley Young's level of performance.
Can't play him more often if he can't even match old man Ash
