Manchester United Football Club more than earned their three points this afternoon, in a game that was never going to be easy. Jose Mourinho’s squad was decimated with various injuries and suspensions, but the players that he had available went out there and worked hard for the team.
In Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s absence, Marcus Rashford enjoyed a rare chance to start as the main striker, and it was an opportunity that he has grabbed with both hands with his all-round performances.
At just nineteen, the man from Wythenshawe has been a real menace for opposing defences ever since he broke through into the first-team, and that was evident again this afternoon.
His pace is just frightening and more often than not he makes the right runs and really doesn’t give the opposing defenders a moment’s peace.
Today he was excellent in everything but the end product, and over time that is something that he will improve on. Earlier today, it felt like Twitter was awash with people criticising the young man, but it was good to see so many leap to his defence on social media, too.
Check out the reactions to Rashford’s performance here:
Rashford is a 19 year old ripping apart a Premier League team but rather than enjoy it people focus on negatives. Why bother watching?

Rashford's been good today but his end product has been lacking. Will improve on that with games & experience, though. #mufc

Rashford ought to have scored in his last two games, but his pace gives United's passers more options, and opposing defenders more problems.

How dare Rashford not be the finished product at 19! How inconsiderate of the boy. ?That lad is going to be a star. A star.

Happiness is seeing Marcus Rashford running at a defence

Rashford abuse on the TL, he's been our best player by far, yes he missed a chance, but what United player hasn't missed chances? Unfair

Rashford is mint. Yes, he's missed a few chances but he's so good on the ball. #MatchdayMac #MIDMUN

Rashford needs to grow up. Playing like a 19 year old when he is a 19 year old. The bastard.
