Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford must have got the shock of his life this afternoon, as the 18-year old striker was named in Roy Hodgson’s preliminary 26-man squad for the European Championships. The Mancunian has been in scintillating form since breaking through into the first-team fold back in February.
Having scoring two goals on debut against FC Midtjylland, the young man then backed that up with a stunning brace against Arsenal, before netting the only goal in the Manchester derby.
Normally, Rashford’s inclusion wouldn’t have been questioned, but with a sudden influx of top quality strikers in and around the Three Lions’ camp, it does beg the question as to whether its a bit too soon.
Personally I think it is, but I’m in the minority here judging by the rest of the reds who expressed their joy all over social media. I’m obviously thrilled to bits for the young man, but I just hope there isn’t too much pressure on him at such an early stage in his fledgling career.

Marcus Rashford has made the squad. Huge gamble, but I wouldn’t have taken him. Too soon & burnout risk. #mufc

Early introduction for Rashford to the ‘he’s only in because he plays for Man U, mediocre player from my club should be in instead’ refrain
