Manchester United Football Club do have one of the best goalkeepers in the business at the moment, with David de Gea progressing year-on-year into a top shot-stopper. This tournament will be his first as Spain’s number one, as he takes over the reigns from Iker Casillas.
However, despite breaking a clean sheet record last time out, the Spaniard had a shocking game in Spain’s final group game against Croatia. He got beaten at his near post twice in the game, and if there is a weak spot in his game, it has to be that.
Perhaps we’re being harsh on him because expect so much – maybe the first one wasn’t all his fault. The second one though, he certainly should have done better despite the deflection.
At the end of the day, even the best in the business have bad days at the office. It has been a fair while since we’ve seen a mistake from David de Gea, and two in one night from him is certainly a rarity.

I get it. De Gea’s standards are so high that he also needs to save deflections. Cool. #Euros2016

De Gea concedes after 494 minutes of competitive international football, a new world record, but he’s a fraud ??????????????????????????????

To be fair, couldn’t care less if De Gea is making mistakes for Spain. He doesn’t put a foot wrong for us and I absolutely love it.

Yeah, one bad game in nearly three years makes De Gea bad doesn’t it, these people know absolutely nothing.

De Gea unlucky with the deflection there.

If this was Man Utd I’d be devastated De Gea let that in. Wicked deflection though.
