Manchester United are believed to be on the verge of signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic on a free transfer. Although that wasn’t expected to be done until after the European Championships, it could happen sooner than expected, as Sweden have just one point from their first two games in the group stages.
These are the times when players should step up for their countries, and as Sweden’s captain, Zlatan Ibrahimovic should have grabbed the game by the scruff of its neck and dragged his side through. However, that didn’t happen and he struggled to have any real influence on the game.
He didn’t get on the ball anywhere near enough, and when he was in possession he was rather wasteful with it. His afternoon was summed up by a glaring miss in the second half, in which he missed an open goal from two yards out – thankfully his blushes were saved as the linesman had raised his flag for offside.
As you’d imagine, Manchester United fans were keen on watching how Zlatan got on, as he could well be walking out a red come next season. It’s fair to say they were not impressed…

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has looked very ordinary in these two European Championships games so far. Hopefully he improves.
