Manchester United finally secured back-to-back wins for the first time since late September, and Jose Mourinho looked absolutely delighted at full-time. The Reds more than deserved the victory despite another awful refereeing performance on the night, and fair play to the team for sticking with it.
In my opinion, the best player on the pitch by quite some distance was French midfielder Paul Pogba. From the get-go, he just demanded the ball and began to drive United forward. His range of passing is a joy to watch, and he doesn’t mind the physical side of the premier League either, and fair play to him for that.
The 23-year-old gave United a lead just before the half-time whistle, after Zlatan Ibrahimovic flicked it onto him during a corner-kick routine.
However, the moment of the match came in the 88th minute. Pogba got the ball, drove forward and then played a perfectly weighted through ball into Zlatan Ibrahimovic who finished with aplomb to regain United’s lead.
It really was an absolute delight to watch him this evening, and if he continues to improve, we’ll have a real world class midfielder on our hands for years to come.
