Manchester United Football Club named a surprise in their starting line-up yesterday, as Louis van Gaal gave a Champions League debut to a young starlet named Jesse Lingard. The 22-year old winger is obviously highly thought of by the manager, who came on against Everton at the weekend.
Lingard certainly wasn’t phased by the occasion, and from minute one the Warrington-born lad was at the thick of the action. He made some superb runs, wasn’t afraid to take his man on and was more than willing to track back and help out Antonio Valencia.
Hopefully this is the start of a fantastic Manchester United career for Lingard, and it could explain why Louis van Gaal chose not to sign more than one winger this summer as he feels the youth academy product can do a great job for the club this term.

Lingard only looking out of place in that his movement and energy isn’t in keeping with such a pedestrian performance.

Very lively display from Lingard. Used the ball well & always looked a threat. LVG will be pleased with his performance. #MUFC #UCL
