Manchester United may well already have one foot in the EFL Cup semi-final, thanks to a 2-0 victory at home to Hull City. Jose Mourinho’s men were on the attack from the get-go and finally got the breakthrough in the second half, as Juan Mata tapped home from a Henrikh Mkhitaryan header. The lead was then doubled when Marouane Fellaini found the back of the net.
On the whole, the best player on the field has to have been Juan Mata. He was popping up all over the final third, picking the right passes and some of his footwork was absolutely unbelievable.
On the night he was at the heart of everything good about our attacking play, and credit to him for that. He could well have let his head drop after not being selected for starts in the league recently, but he didn’t, came into the team and played a brilliant match (before he was subbed off).
As you’d imagine, the United fans were buzzing about his display all over Twitter.

It really does give Jose Mourinho a headache for the Liverpool game now. You feel if he’s fit, Zlatan will start, as will Henrikh Mkhitaryan. That now leaves one final spot open for that left-hand side. Will the boss go with Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Juan Mata or even Jesse Lingard? It’s a tough one, but on form, I’d probably go with Martial.
