Manchester United have received some great news over the last 24 hours, as Ivory Coast were dumped out of the African Cup of Nations at the group stage. That means Eric Bailly is on his way home, meaning Jose Mourinho now has another defensive option – ahead of a busy schedule.
The 22-year-old signed for the Red Devils over the summer, and since making the move he has acquitted himself brilliantly here. His aggressive style of defending suits a United and Jose team down to a tee, and before his injury, he became an integral part of the line-up.
As you’d imagine, the fans are absolutely delighted to have him back, and he’ll certainly add something positive to our starting eleven which is obviously a huge help. We’ve compiled some of the fans reacting to his return to Manchester on social media.

Honestly, more than anything these tweets show just how far Eric Bailly has come over the last six months. He came to Old Trafford as a relative unknown, but within a few weeks, the fans became accustomed to supreme performances from the young centre-back.
When he left, we were all gutted at the prospect of being without him for so long, but thankfully, he’s coming home sooner than expected which is only a good thing for us. Hopefully he isn’t feeling too tired after the travelling and playing three games in quick succession for his country, and he should be available for selection in the not too distant future.
