Well there you have it, Wayne Rooney has equalled Manchester United’s top goalscorer of all time record, with his 249th strike for the Red Devils. The record had stood for over fifty years, with Sir Bobby Charlton in the crowd to witness Rooney join him on top of the pedestal.
The 31-year-old struck with barely five minutes on the clock, although it was somewhat a fortuitous goal as it deflected off his knee and looped over Ali Al-Habsi in the Royals’ net.
His performances as a whole was absolutely superb. He was at the heart of everything good for Manchester United going forward, and he’ll clearly be keen to get right back into the Red Devils’ team for the huge games that are coming up.
It must be a real honour for the forward to hold such a title, and I’m sure it won’t be long until Wayne Rooney is out on his own. And my, he deserves it.
As you’d imagine, the Manchester United fans were absolutely buzzing about the event all over social media, with them all quick to congratulate the man from Croxteth for his feat.
