Football is a funny old game. Last weekend we were loving life after a late EFL Cup final winner, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic taking all the plaudits. Things feel very different today, with the influential Swede at the heart of controversy as Manchester United dropped another two points at home.
The 35-year-old was embroiled in an ongoing battle with Bournemouth’s Tyrone Mings. The Cherries man looked to have stamped on Ibra’s head, before our star striker reacted by elbowing Mings in the face. Let’s be honest, they both should have seen red cards…
Then in the second half, Zlatan stepped up and missed a penalty that he should have scored, and we should be celebrating all three points this morning. It was a real off day for our key man, and it’s no surprise that we failed to win when Ibrahimovic didn’t perform.
As you’d imagine, Twitter was awash with Reds moaning at the 26-goal striker, as well as the odd joke or two sent his way as per usual. We’ve compiled some of our favourite tweets here.
Check out the tweets below:
Jose should have had the balls to take Zlatan off when it was obvious he was having an off day before he missed the pen.

Jose better bang some fucking heads together. Zlatan & Pogba particularly shit today. Not that anyone played well anyway. Fuming.

I absolutely condone Zlatan elbowing Mings for that, he completely deserved it

People shocked how Zlatan is playing. Hardly the 1st time this season. He's been terrible in a lot of games then come up with a winner

And, as per usual you always get the odd joke:
Zlatan doesn't miss penalties. Penalties miss Zlatan. #ZlatanFacts
