Manchester United Football Club have received huge news regarding the future of Anthony Martial.
According to the Daily Mirror, the 22-year-old is now back at Manchester in training, and with time running out on the transfer window, it looks as though the Frenchman will stay.
Obviously, if United decided to cash in now, they’d have very little time to find a replacement and get the deal done before the Thursday deadline. Hence why the Red Devils’ hand has been forced in a sense.
The ball was always in United’s court. Martial has one year, plus the option for an extra further season, still to run on his deal. They’re under no pressure to sell right now, although next summer, things may be different.
Martial’s a brilliant player, there is no getting away from that. He’ll play his part this term, hopefully, he keeps banging in the goals and puts in the performances that we know he can.
If that does happen, Jose Mourinho will be left with no choice but to start the Frenchman every single week. If that’s the case, he could well be tempted into signing a new long-term deal at the Theatre of Dreams.
